Real estate photography is not as easy as it seems. It is necessary to have certain skills, both in shooting and in post-processing.
Several specialized techniques are used for real estate photographs. The most used is certainly HDR (High Dynamic Range). This technique helps to retain details in shadows and highlights. Let's see some examples.
It is possible to take 3, 5 or 7 photos (brackets) and then merge them in post-processing. We use 5 photos to make sure we retain enough information, but 3 photos are usually enough.
Bracketing the photos and then merging them is not enough. Each photo must then be processed individually to optimize each final image.
This is where we see all the work behind the sessions and the importance of hiring a professional with the skills required specifically for real estate photography. Obviously, knowing how to do HDR is not enough: composition is also important in order to optimize a space.
